If you’re anything like me, you’ve looked at your family’s Christmas card photos in the past and thought, “Why did I let them wear that?” (No judgment, we’ve all been there.)
But guess what? Your Tree Farm Holiday Minis this year don’t have to be stressful. In fact, getting your family camera-ready can actually feel fun (or at least, fun-ish) when you know what works best.
This year’s setup is merry, bright, and full of color—with a decorated vintage truck, jewel tones, and twinkle lights adding nostalgic charm to every shot. Let’s make sure your outfits pop, while still feeling like you.

Permission to Have Fun
I know stepping in front of the camera can feel like a big deal. It’s easy to default to what’s “safe” or “neutral,” but I’m giving you full permission to have fun with your outfits.
What would you have wanted to wear as a three-year-old with zero reservations? Maybe a twirly princess dress with sparkly boots, or a superhero cape paired with rain boots and a crown. Kids don’t overthink it—and honestly, we could all use a little of that energy.
If your child insists on wearing their favorite hot pink boots or a hat that makes them feel like a rockstar, consider letting them! Those touches often become the photos you treasure most, because they’re so them.
Stepping a little out of your comfort zone—trying that bold color, wearing the velvet dress, letting your little one bring a favorite stuffed animal—might be exactly what makes your photos feel magical.
The Best Colors for Tree Farm Minis
Want your photos to sing? These colors are your best friends:
Teal blue
Navy
Silver sparkle
Royal purple
Wine/Burgundy
Hot pink
Lime green
Ruby red
Golden yellow
Coral orange
These colors complement the greens of the tree farm and the decor of the truck beautifully, ensuring you stand out without clashing.

Cozy, Glam, or In-Between?
There’s no “right” outfit for holiday minis—only what feels good for your family.
Some ideas to inspire you:
Holiday Glam: A velvet dress with boots and a sparkly headband for you, paired with a cozy sweater and dark jeans for your partner.
Cozy & Fun: Matching Christmas jammies with cocoa mugs in hand for a playful, lifestyle feel your kids will love.

Textures Are Your Secret Weapon
Textures add depth and interest to your images. Consider:
Velvet
Cotton
Chiffon
Chunky knits
Sequins (yes, please ✨)
What to avoid: Big logos, busy prints, and clashing patterns that distract from your beautiful faces.

Pro Styling Tips (from me to you)
Pick 2-3 coordinating colors for everyone, not matching exactly.
Keep patterns minimal—as in, just one. Think wide stripes, big polka dots, or a star pattern if you want some variety.
Let your personalities shine—add accessories like hats or cozy scarves if it feels right.
Brown boots are always a safe bet (trust me).

Feeling Stuck? Let Me Help!
I get it—sometimes it’s easier to lay everything out and still feel unsure. If that’s you, DM me your outfit flat lay anytime. I’m always happy to give feedback so you feel confident walking into your session.
Tree Farm Minis are on November 15th at Heritage Tree Farm in Lititz, PA (rain date: November 16). They’re 15 minutes, $200 for 5 images, and include your style guide, upgrade options, and the chance to freeze this season in time—without the overwhelm.
