Frequently asked questions

Here's where you find your answers

Q: WHo do you serve?

A: All authentic and joyful people are welcome here! All ages, races, religions, countries of origin, genders, sexual orientations, sizes, abilities. All people (and their pets).

Q: WHAT IS YOUR SHOOTING & editing STYLE?

A: Bright, bold, and authentic! I am a natural light photographer. I want to capture who you authentically are. As you can see, I am inspired by color and light, as well as interaction and connection. If you’re feeling awkward, I hear you. I will guide you into poses that look natural and put you in a flattering light. I also will prompt you to interact with the other subjects to showcase your connection. My goal is always to get at least one photo of everyone looking at the camera and smiling, but I like to capture movement and interaction the most. I edit my photos to show an enhanced version of reality. I'll bring the colors and details to life in a bright and vivid but true to life way. Your photos will be brought to life in a way that will help you relive the moments every time you look at them. Check out this little before and after action.

Q: WHAT TYPES OF SESSIONS DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH?

A: My favorite types of sessions are families, couples, and maternity. I also love to do seniors, milestones, and end of life pet portraits. While I did intern with a wonderful wedding photographer for a semester in college, I prefer working more intimately with people. If you are having an intimate wedding (30 or less people) or eloping and want to work with me, that's more my speed and I could come up with a custom quote to fit your needs.

Q: WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

A: I have a Nikon D750 camera. I've been really favoring my 24-70 mm lens lately. I also shoot with prime lenses; my favorite is my 50mm portrait. Though I prefer to shoot in natural light, I have an off camera flash that I'm able to use if the lighting situation requires it.

Q: WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

A: All sessions booked with me include a session guide! You will receive my session guide by email after your contract is sign and retainer is paid. It's packed full of my best tips and tricks for not only choosing your outfits but also for setting expectations and preparing your family for your session. I can be as involved as you like in this process. Many of my clients like to send me their outfit options ahead of time so that I can provide feedback. If shopping really isn't your thing, I can even put together a custom shopping list for you. I have a shoppable list of clothing options on Amazon as well as a Pinterest board with outfit inspiration here.

Q: when do you schedule sessions?

A: I currently work full time as a graphic designer Monday through Friday. My photography availability is limited to weekends and in the summer, weekday evenings. I always like to shoot during golden hour in the evening (about an hour or 2 before sunset). This is when you typically have the most dreamy golden light for photos. You can also get this golden light in the hour to two hours following sunrise, if you're an early riser. In-home lifestyle newborn sessions and indoor locations are typically scheduled around 9:30/10 am on a Saturday morning.

Q: how long will it be until I receive my PHOTOS?

A: You can expect to receive a link to your online gallery approximately 4 weeks after your session. I can give you a better estimate at the time of your session. If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, I’ll often post some favorites to my stories a few days after your session.

Q: HOW MANY IMAGES are included?

A: For a full session, all of the best digital images are included. You can expect to receive anywhere from 30+ edited images in your online gallery (depending on the type of session you chose). Mini sessions have a limited number of downloads with the option to purchase more. I typically deliver around 20+ images for you to choose from.

Q: WHERE can I purchase prints and cards with my photos?

A: Your session images are delivered in a Pinterest-style online gallery where you have the ability to like, share, and download your images. You also have the opportunity to purchase prints from a professional photo lab and have them drop shipped directly to your door! So convenient. If you are local to the Lancaster area, I also recommend Perfect Image Camera for a local small business option who does a fantastic job with unmatched quality and precision.

Please do your images (and your photographer) a favor and have your photos printed at a professional lab, NOT your local pharmacy where quality is lacking and colors are inconsistent. Check out this blog post for more information.

Q: WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

A: I accept credit card, Venmo, or valid check payment. Your retainer is due at time of booking and the remainder is due one week before your session. Please note there is a 6% PA sales tax charge added to the session fee, as well as any products purchased after the gallery is delivered (digital images are considered goods and are subject to PA sales tax).

Q: DO YOU TRAVEL?

A: Yes! I love to travel; however, I do charge an extra mileage fee for locations 15 miles outside of 17522. We can work on a custom quote if you'd like to have your photos taken out of town.
