A Sun-Soaked Maternity Session at Marsh Creek State Park

Some sessions just feel like a deep exhale. This was one of them.

I met Tori and Darren at Marsh Creek State Park on one of those golden, gift-of-a-day kind of golden hours—the kind where the sun feels like a gentle hug and the breeze carries just enough warmth to remind you that summer isn’t quite here with us yet.

They brought along Kona, their sweet pup, who immediately made herself at home sniffing around the trails and making sure we knew she was absolutely part of this story. (Which, obviously, she is.)

We started in the woods—quiet, dappled light peeking through the trees, the kind of stillness that just invites you to breathe and be. Tori glowed (as cliché as that sounds, it’s true), and Darren looked at her the way every mom-to-be deserves to be looked at: with admiration, calm, and a little bit of awe. You could feel their anticipation in the pauses between frames—those subtle glances and soft laughs that said, “We’re about to become parents.”

And then we made our way to the dock and the beach, chasing the light as it danced across the water. The moment the sun dipped a little lower and cast that creamy glow across the lake? Pure magic. Tori mentioned their nursery theme—wildflowers for their baby girl—and I couldn't help but smile at the poetic timing of it all. There was something so fitting about capturing their quiet moments near the water, surrounded by nature’s own wild beauty.

This baby girl is already so loved. And if her parents are any indication, she’s in for a life full of belly laughs, heartfelt traditions, and plenty of pup kisses from Kona.

We soaked in the sun. We paused for the moments that mattered. And we made space for what’s coming next.
