A Senior Session at Home: Cala in Lititz, PA

There’s something so special about walking back onto a family’s property a year later, camera in hand, ready to mark the next milestone. Last year, I photographed the Millers’ son for his senior portraits at their home in Lititz. This year, it was Cala’s turn—and oh, what a joy it was to be back.
Cala’s story is uniquely hers. She skipped a grade during the pandemic, which means she’s stepping into her senior year at just 16. This summer, she spent weeks exploring Spain (LUCKY, right?), soaking in the culture, language, and all the experiences that come with being abroad. Now, she’s even considering pursuing university overseas next year—a big, brave leap that feels so true to her adventurous spirit.

For her photos, we stayed close to home, incorporating pieces of the family’s everyday life that make their story so special. Their chickens strutted around like they owned the place, Cala was framed beautifully by the florals in the yard, and we made sure the family barn—which has changed a bit since last year—was part of the backdrop too.
We also grabbed family photos before her brother left for college in Utah. I could feel the tug at her mom’s heart—watching one child fly the nest while another is preparing to take her own big leap. This season is full of pride, joy, and just a touch of bittersweet, and I felt so honored to help them pause time, even if just for a moment.
The Millers are one of those families who make you feel instantly at home—easygoing, fun, and full of love. Being invited back into their world to capture both seniors (and some precious family moments in between) is an honor I don’t take lightly. Cala’s session wasn’t just about marking her senior year; it was about celebrating her story and the incredible journey ahead of her.
I drove away with a full heart, grateful once again for families like the Millers who remind me why I do what I do: to freeze these fleeting seasons, so they’ll have them to look back on long after the kids have flown the nest.
If your child’s senior year is around the corner—or if you just want to capture your family in this exact season—I’d love to help you preserve it. Let’s plan a session that feels like home, right where your story unfolds. Get in touch here.
Beautifully done!
