A Golden Hour Tradition: Fall Mini Sessions at Lancaster County Park

Fall mini session day is one of those days I look forward to all year long—and this one absolutely lived up to the hype.

We hosted our fall mini sessions at Lancaster County Park, where the golden hour sun filters through the trees in the most dreamy, glowy way. You know the light I’m talking about—the kind that makes everything feel warm, nostalgic, and a little magical.

It was definitely a popular afternoon. At least five other photographers were scattered throughout the same field running their own mini sessions at the same time, which honestly just goes to show how loved fall photos are around here. Everyone wants those cozy, color-filled images—and for good reason.

What made the day so special, though, was getting to work with so many wonderful families back-to-back. Each one brought their own energy, personalities, and connections. Different outfits, different dynamics, same shared goal: preserving this season before it slips away.

Fall is hands-down the busiest time of year for family photos, and we’re limited on how many full session dates are available. That’s where mini sessions really shine. They allow me to serve many families on one date, while still creating meaningful, beautiful images you’ll treasure—without the pressure of a longer session.

These days are full, fast-paced, and a little chaotic—but in the very best way. They remind me why I do this work and why I keep bringing fall minis back year after year.
