Some sessions feel like they were quietly meant to happen exactly the way they did.
Our friends reached out with an idea that instantly made my nostalgic heart flutter—The Polar Express–inspired photos for their daughter. We planned a session, crossed our fingers for cozy winter vibes… and on the actual session day, we were gifted something even better.
Snow. Real, falling snow.
Instead of changing plans or locations, we leaned all the way in and photographed everything right in their backyard—and it turned into the most magical little moment. The kind you couldn’t recreate if you tried.
She wore the sweetest Polar Express print dress and held all the meaningful details: a lantern glowing softly in the snow, a golden bell, and her ticket clutched in her hands. Every piece felt intentional, nostalgic, and straight out of a childhood storybook. With snowflakes falling around her, it felt less like a photo session and more like stepping into a memory in the making.
This is why I love themed sessions—and why I always leave room for the unexpected. When you combine imagination, trust, and a little bit of flexibility, the result is something that feels deeply personal. These weren’t just holiday photos. They were a moment of wonder. A glimpse into her childhood. A story she’ll get to look back on someday and feel.
Proof that sometimes the best sessions aren’t planned perfectly—they’re received.
Have an idea that feels a little whimsical, nostalgic, or outside the box? I’m always here for it. Whether it’s one child, one story, or one perfectly timed snowstorm, let’s turn it into something magical. Reach out here and let’s dream something up together.
